Reflections on the Festival of Handmade – The Spring Edit

The Festival of Handmade – The Spring Edit, held at NIFT Bangalore from 12th to 16th February 2025, was a remarkable experience for Madhubani Arts India. The event witnessed a record crowd over the weekend, with numerous visitors engaging with and appreciating the intricate beauty of Madhubani art.

One of the most striking aspects of this edition was the enthusiastic response from an elderly audience, many of whom deeply connected with the artwork. Their appreciation, insightful conversations, and support through purchases reinforced the enduring appeal of handmade art across generations.

Additionally, many NIFT students attended the event as part of their research project on traditional art forms. Engaging with these young minds provided an opportunity to share insights into the heritage of Madhubani painting, its evolution, and the challenges of preserving its authenticity while embracing contemporary expressions. Their keen interest and thoughtful discussions highlighted the growing awareness and admiration for India’s rich artistic traditions among the next generation of designers.

Vidushini Prasad, the founder of Madhubani Arts India, extends heartfelt gratitude to A Hundred Hands for curating a meaningful platform that brings artisans and craft lovers together. Events like these continue celebrating handmade traditions, fostering deeper connections between artists and art enthusiasts.

A sincere thank you to everyone who visited supported and carried a piece of Madhubani art home. The love and encouragement received at the festival serve as a constant motivation to keep creating and preserving this cherished art form.

Stay tuned for more updates and upcoming showcases!
