Vidushini Showcases Hand-Painted Madhubani Art at Craft Bazaar, Chennai
Madhubani by Vidushini recently participated in the Craft Bazaar organised by the Craft Council of India at the Mother Teresa Women’s Complex, Valluvarkottam, Chennai from 13–17 February 2026. The event brought together artisans and craft practitioners from across India, creating a vibrant platform to celebrate traditional Indian crafts, handmade textiles, and folk art traditions.
At the exhibition, artist and founder Vidushini Prasad presented a curated collection of contemporary Madhubani paintings, along with her signature Madhubani wearable art collection. The display included hand-painted Madhubani sarees, dupattas, stoles, and a newly launched collection of hand-painted Madhubani suits. These textile pieces are created in collaboration with skilled women artisans from Bihar, combining the heritage of traditional Madhubani painting with contemporary textile design.
Visitors to the exhibition experienced the intricate details of Madhubani folk art, known for its symbolic motifs such as fish, peacocks, lotuses, birds, and nature-inspired patterns. Each piece reflects the storytelling tradition of Mithila art, where every motif carries cultural and spiritual significance.
The response to the exhibition was overwhelming. Over the course of the Craft Bazaar, the stall attracted art collectors, international buyers, design enthusiasts, and families interested in authentic Indian handmade art.
Visitors from different age groups from senior patrons to young students and children engaged deeply with the artworks and the creative process behind hand-painted Madhubani textiles.
The event also gave Vidushini Prasad the opportunity to meet many of her followers and supporters from Chennai and nearby regions who visited the stall to see her work in person. These interactions highlighted the growing appreciation for Madhubani art in contemporary fashion, home décor, and collectible paintings.
The Craft Bazaar served not only as a marketplace but also as a cultural platform promoting Indian folk art, artisan livelihoods, and sustainable handmade products. Madhubani by Vidushini expresses sincere gratitude to the Craft Council of India for providing this opportunity to showcase Madhubani paintings and wearable art to a wider audience.
Through exhibitions like these, Madhubani by Vidushini continues its mission of bringing the timeless beauty of Madhubani art from Bihar to global audiences, while supporting artisan communities and preserving one of India’s most celebrated traditional art forms.
